april 2020

Writer's picture: Madeline GreenMadeline Green

my goals for april included 01) work out 3x a week, 02) work on morning routine, and 03) freshen up quiet time. so...for the first time in my life i worked out 3x a week for a whole month! i’ve never actually succeeded in that before. i’ve also progressively woken up earlier to capitalize on the morning, which is my favorite, most productive, happiest time of the day. to make my routine feel more solid, i’ll do a few small things in the morning like making my bed, drinking water, and stretching. these tiny things may not change the way my day goes, but it makes me feel those early morning vibes u know.

i’ve had a fun time doing quiet time this month too...i’ve been listening to john piper sermons a few days per week to spice it up a bit and it’s been really refreshing! as social isolation has progressed, bible time has become the best part of the day...it’s much more fun than homework, than being alone, and those afternoons where you’re so tired and lazy that you can’t function. i’m just thankful that bible time is now the highlight of my day, not an item on my to do list.

i’ve enjoyed cooking a lot in april. once it hits 4 or 5 o’clock, i’m relieved from the dreaded afternoon boredom and get to plan some elaborate dinner for the fam.

i also started taking pictures of everything i eat for some reason.

samuel and i celebrated THREE YEARS this month as well. unfortunately our date was over skype since he was still dealing with leftover symptoms of most-likely-coronavirus.

thankfully, samuel’s been getting progressively better everyday. but we’re kinda sick of it. he’s now on week 7 so we’ve gone on two social distancing picnics. don’t come at me for breaking the rules lol. these outings have been fun and all but if he could just come over and watch a movie that’d be great.

also got to see emily for a little bit this month. i went back to acu to record some vocals and pack up the last things in my dorm. i’m glad i got to sit on my front lawn with my neighbor one last time. covid-19 cut my time in the dorms so short...i wish i could’ve sat out here more.

life in quarantine has started to get a little boring. but i think school ending will freshen things up a bit. abby and i went out on a little photoshoot outing and i would suggest it not necessarily for the pictures, but for the experience of leaving the house lol.

i’ve also been doing an unhealthy amount of tanning. but...it’s the only thing that feels like an outing without leaving home!

i hope in the next month to really put social isolation to use now that i no longer have geology homework to distract me. i want to read lots of fiction, learn some more french, put myself through my own vocal boot camp, get better at teaching voice lessons, write creatively (like this) and at least touch a musical instrument once or twice (no promises though...). but if i don’t do any of this, it will probably be okay.
